I often say that music inspires me. When I edit pictures I almost always listen to it… and when I listen to it, I see pictures and scenes pass before my eyes (sometimes I also imagine things that would work great as music videos!).
Although I enjoy different genres, like every music lover I guess, my favorite is rock music: I have grown up listening to it. If I had to name the group that most influenced me, it would definitely be Red Hot Chili Peppers: I recall falling in love with their music (and getting a huge crush on their charming leader, Anthony Kiedis) back in 1999, at the age of 13. Only a year later, the music video I posted above came out. I was extremely fascinated by it.
A couple of months ago, while taking macros for a new project (that had nothing to do with the Otherside feel), I saw something really strange and unusual. That very moment, I started thinking of the song and its music video… so I took the photograph I’ve called A cemetery where I marry the sea (inspired by the lyrics of the song). Can you see the connection?
I like to think that all of the things we do, see, feel and experience live inside us… and can come out anytime, in a different form or with a brand new identity. What do you think? Wouldn’t that be amazing?
